Almaty resident beat and robbed an elderly woman
A 20-year-old Almaty resident robbed and beat an elderly woman early in the morning, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the City Police Department.
“The incident took place at the intersection of Markov and Timiryazev streets. The 20-year-old man pushed the elderly woman with his hand on the shoulder, and when she lost her balance and fell, struck several blows, grabbed her bag and phone,” the department said.
As reported in the PD, the man was intoxicated.
“The victim immediately went to the police. In the course of operational-search measures on the same day, the suspect was arrested. He confessed to the robbery,” said Galym Kasymbaev, head of the police department at the Bostandyk District PD.
The identity of the detainee is checked for involvement in similar crimes committed earlier in Almaty. The criminal case is being investigated under article 191 of part 2 of paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Robbery”.
The suspect faces up to four years in prison, the PD added.
