At an expanded meeting of the Council of the Kazakhstan People’s Assembly, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about multilingualism in Kazakhstan and gave relevant instructions to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports.
During his speech, the chairman of the Tajik ethno-cultural association "Faiz", director of the general secondary school named after S. Aini Babaev Shokir Babayev noted that in order to expand the scope of the state language and increase the competitiveness of students, it is necessary to disseminate and improve the methodology of bilingual and multilingual education in all schools with a mixed language of instruction.
According to him, this issue requires active support from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As he noted, today about 40 thousand Tajiks live on the Turkestan land, who are Kazakhstanis with their hearts and souls.
"Indeed, the graduates of our schools should be integrated into the Kazakh society. They should be competitive, and for this they need to speak both the state language and their national language, and it is desirable to speak Russian. In general, the more our children know different languages, the better for them. Do not limit them to only one language. By acting this way, we actually limit their development, their future integration, and we deprive them of prospects for a prosperous future," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev replied.
The head of state stressed that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan should carefully study the issues of multilingualism around the world and transfer them to our country.
