In Kazakhstan, the average salary of scientists has increased to 257 thousand tenge and varies up to 1.5 million tenge, Kazpravda.kz reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"Earlier, the salaries of scientists were not stable and depended on the results of competitions. Now, thanks to the adopted legislative amendments, the salary of leading scientists (1200 people - author's note) is included in the basic funding. At the same time, the total amount of additional royalties for scientists amounted to 338 million tenge. Income from sales of innovative projects amounted to 16.3 billion tenge”, the information says.
Also in 2021, the ministry held a contest for the Best Researcher, following which 50 winners received 6 million tenge each. Scholarships for doctoral students have increased from 82,000 tenge in 2019 to 195,000 tenge this year.
"Over the past two years, the ministry has implemented 130 projects, 120 of which have reached the sales stage. The volume of exports of scientific developments of our scientists has exceeded 346 million tenge. The projects of domestic scientists are in demand not only in Kazakhstan, but also enter the markets of China, Russia, Turkey, Czech Republic, etc. The Ministry of Education and Science pays special attention to strengthening the human resources potential and creating the necessary conditions for research scientists. The ministry is working systematically to make the profession of a scientist more attractive from a financial point of view and guarantee stability and implementation of important scientific ideas," added in the ministry.
It is also important that thanks to the support of the President, 500 scientists are annually trained free of charge in the best scientific centers of the world.
"Over the past two years, the number of young scientists has grown by a thousand people. If in 2018 their number was about 8,000 people, then in 2021, 9,200 young scientists already worked in the field of science. It should be noted that there are 396 scientific organizations in Kazakhstan, they employ 22,665 people. 54% of them are women," the ministry concluded.
