Akim of the Turkestan region Omirzak Shukeyev instructed to hold a spring month of cleanliness in the Turkestan region, Kazpravda.kz reports citing the press service of the regional administration.

The head of the region created a monitoring group and warned that akims are directly responsible for the cleanliness of their region. All citizens should be involved in subbotniks to improve the place they live in, he stressed.

"There is a lot of garbage along the roads. Akims of districts and towns are responsible for this. Spring has come, it is necessary to hold a clean-up day, remove garbage, whitewash the trees. Urgently deal with this! Why don't you control this? If I see garbage, I will invite the akim to that place. How you treat your home the way you should treat your district,” said Omirzak Shukeyev.

There are 158 solid domestic waste landfills registered in the region. Over 300 illegal dumps were identified last year. Since May, work will be carried out in the region to identify unauthorized dumps using satellite imagery, the akimat added.
