In Uralsk, reconstruction of the airport terminal complex has been completed. The opening ceremony of the new terminal was attended by akim of the West Kazakhstan region Gali Iskaliev and Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Kamaliev, Kazpravda.kz reports citing the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The new airport terminal complies with all international standards of IATA (International Air Transport Association), the press service noted.
"The share of Kazakhstan's participation in construction is 60%. Thus, glass, ceramic tiles, sanitary ware and other materials of domestic production were used in the construction of the airport. The international airport terminal was built by regional construction companies," the report says.
The area of the terminal is 10 thousand square meters, the average passenger traffic reaches 600 thousand people a year.
It should be noted that in March of this year, by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Uralsk airport was named after Manshuk Mametova, a machine-gunner heroine who was born in the West Kazakhstan region.
