Kazakhstani policemen to be checked for corruption resistance

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan are uniting in the fight against corruption in the police. This became known during the meeting of Interior Minister Marat Akhmetzhanov with the chairman of Anti-Corruption Agency Olzhas Bektenov, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Service.

During the meeting, the heads of departments signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation.

The document provides for the exchange of information of mutual interest in the field of combating corruption, the conduct of joint operational and search activities, monitoring and analysis of corruption risks.

As Minister of Internal Affairs Akhmetzhanov noted, the department is aimed at strict suppression of corruption in the internal affairs bodies.

In turn, the head of the Anti-Corruption Service, Bektenov, supported the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Police officers are in close contact with the population and therefore are most susceptible to corruption. The head of state spoke about its eradication more than once.

In addition, the police intend to carry out the Integrity check. This measure has been successfully implemented in many countries.

In Kazakhstan, it is envisaged as part of the implementation of the Concept of Anti-Corruption Policy for 2022-2026.

The agency is currently developing a legal framework.
