List of qualifications for extramural form of study reduced at Kazakhstani colleges

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan has significantly reduced the list of qualifications for extramural form of study in the country's colleges. Now students can study in 53 qualifications, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.

For comparison: more than two years ago, it was possible to get education in absentia in 595 qualifications. But since this form of education does not give students high-quality skills, the ministry has carried out phased work to reduce them. This time, extramural form of study is excluded for such training profiles as "Law", "Education", "Service, Economics and Management" and others.

“Today, the requirements for training personnel in the field of technical and vocational education are determined by the labor market and employers. In this regard, we are actively moving away from extramural form of study. The reason for this decision was the insufficient quality of knowledge and skills that graduates who studied by correspondence receive.

Colleges are increasingly collaborating with large enterprises and businesses, which, in turn, provide students with the opportunity to learn on the job. This form is called dual learning. This has a positive effect on the quality of education.

Unclaimed qualifications are excluded from the list of qualifications for distance learning, including those that were combined based on the identity of the training. And we will continue this work,” said Nasymzhan Ospanova, Director of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
