A number of factors within the country influence the rise in food prices. This explanation was given by Aidar Abildabekov, Deputy Chairman of the Trade Committee of RK MTI, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
“The reason for the rise in prices (for food - ed.) is currently the seasonality factor, which is associated with an increase in storage costs and a reduction in stocks. In addition, fresh products from Uzbekistan and Pakistan have now come, which is also the basis for rising prices. The rise in the cost of feed as a result of the drought causes an increase in prices for beef, poultry, dairy products and eggs,” Abildabekov explained.
Also, the reasons for the rise in food prices, according to him, were: an increase in excise taxes on fuel and lubricants in 2021, a slight increase in tariffs for utilities, an increase in prices for raw materials, fertilizers, logistics and veterinary drugs.
“The January events made a certain contribution to the growth of products. The rise in sugar prices is due to the geopolitical situation and is associated with the events in Ukraine and the ban on sugar exports from the Russian Federation. We imported 58%, and Russia was the main supplier of sugar,” added Aidar Abildabekov.
