Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan Kanat Musin answered the question whether the issue of further reduction of the powers of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be considered, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.

“It cannot be denied that Nursultan Nazarbayev played a huge role in the development of Kazakhstan as a state. The head of state also spoke about this. A nation that does not remember its history has no future. Therefore, if we talk about the Law "On the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy", then I repeat, the right to legislative initiative on the Constitution in Kazakhstan belongs to three subjects - the President, the Government and deputies of Parliament. The Ministry of Justice, as a state body, does not have the right to initiate legislation, therefore, it does not have the right to submit proposals to the Parliament on the abolition or amendment of the legislation on the First President,” Kanat Musin said.

According to him, the need to change this law, first of all, will depend on the opinion of the Kazakh society, and it can be implemented through the powers of both Majilis deputies and through the powers of other subjects of legislative initiative.

“Now I cannot answer your question – will it change, when will it change? Because this issue is not on the agenda of the Majilis,” summed up the head of the Ministry of Justice.
