Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov answered journalists' questions in the Majilis of the Parliament whether Kazakhstan is facing a food shortage, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
“In general, in terms of food supply today, if we talk only about 19 types of socially significant products, then we have about a million tons of stocks in the warehouses of manufacturers. There are about a million tons in the warehouses of suppliers. These resources are being renewed,” the head of the Ministry of Trade said.
He also noted that in a month the seasonal supply of vegetables and fruits will begin.
“In a month, the supply of vegetables and fruits begins, so we have no problems with a shortage. Therefore, the main factors of price growth, I think, are ending. Because we had a jump in the exchange rate in February, and this also affected that moment. And the main factor is also the hype,” he explained.
