Saudi Arabia will accept 1 million pilgrims this year to make the Hajj in Mecca, Kazpravda.kz reports citing Anadolu agency.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs stated that a quota of one million pilgrims has been set for 2022. This figure includes local and foreign pilgrims.
At the same time, strict requirements for pilgrims are applied: they must be no older than 65 years of age and have a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19.
Pilgrims are required to have a negative PCR test done no earlier than 72 hours before arriving on the sacred land.
In 2020, only 60,000 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia performed the Hajj due to the coronavirus pandemic. Foreign pilgrims were deprived of the opportunity to make the Hajj.
