Last year in Kazakhstan, more than 31,000 citizens became victims of financial pyramids, who suffered damage in the amount of more than 54 billion tenge. Sanjar Adilov, head of the investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented such data at a briefing in the CCS, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
“Last year, more than 31 thousand citizens became victims of financial pyramids throughout the country, who suffered damage in the amount of more than 54 billion tenge. As of today, there are 65 criminal cases of this category in the proceedings of the internal affairs bodies, where there are more than 3,000 victims,” the speaker said.
According to him, in recent years, the activities of criminals are associated with increased economic activity, as well as the fact that the population has begun to be interested in investments.
Adilov said that based on the results of the ongoing work on prevention, detection and suppression, the authorities have achieved an annual reduction in this type of crime.
“As a result of the measures taken, including the blocking of websites, the establishment of organizers, branches, structural divisions, the activities of more than 180 financial investment companies and firms were stopped. 138 persons were brought to criminal responsibility (for 2021 and 2022), 50 of them were convicted, the rest are on trial.
In the course of pre-trial investigations, cash, movable and immovable property were seized for a total amount of more than 3 billion tenge. Among them are private houses, apartments, land plots, vehicles, complexes,” summed up Sanjar Adilov.
