A resident of the Turkestan region was exposed while selling counterfeit money in the amount of 9,300 US dollars in banknotes of 100 dollars each, Kazpravda.kz reports citing the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"The perpetrator was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 231, Part 2, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The investigation is ongoing," the press service informed.
The AFM urges to report counterfeit banknotes immediately by calling the hotline +7 7172 708 478.
"Detection of counterfeit money is not a crime, but the sale of such a banknote is subject to criminal liability," the agency said.
