A Maslikhat deputy Kairat Kudaibergen was detained in Almaty in connection with the January events, Kazpravda.kz reports.
According to the prosecutor's office of Almaty, Kairat Kudaibergen is suspected under article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, part 1.2 (organization and participation in mass riots).
The department noted that the maximum sentence under part 1 of article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan is up to 10 years in prison; under part 2 - up to 8 years in prison.
Kairat Kudaibergen has been a deputy of the Maslikhat of Almaty since March 2018, a well-known businessman, founder of the Q3 holding.
According to the media, photos and videos have been published on social networks, in which Kairat Kudaibergen was next to the criminal "Wild Arman", including during the riots in Almaty.
