Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serikkali Brekeshev commented on the death of flamingos in the Mangistau region, Kazpravda.kz reports.
“As for flamingos, indeed, yesterday there was information on social networks, on the Internet that a young man took pictures of about five dead flamingos. Our services, the regional territorial inspection contacted this man. In fact, the shooting was made 10 days ago. Nevertheless, our inspectors were supposed to go there yesterday, contact the author of this video, determine the place where this shooting was carried out, and then look at the place and sort it out on the spot, take tests. Based on the results of the analyses, the cause of the death of these birds will be established,” the minister said at a press conference in the Government.
The minister promised to give a press release as soon as information is received.
Earlier, the Ministry of Ecology reported the death of 5 flamingos in the Beineu district of the Mangystau region.
The Mangistau Regional Inspectorate for Forestry and Wildlife noted that the reason for the death of birds could be bad weather conditions (dust storm and wind), which have recently been observed in the region. All this, coupled with the lack of water sources in the Beineu district, through which flamingos migrate, could lead to the death of weak individuals.
