Officials from Ecology Ministry and operator ROP intended to embezzle KZT 180 bn

The Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in coordination of the General Prosecutor's Office prevented the embezzlement of KZT 180 billion by the "Operator ROP" LLP, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the anti-corruption service.

"So, the officials of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources and the leadership of the "Operator ROP" intended to embezzle KZT 180 bn collected in the form of recycling fees, by illegally financing a private organization for the construction of 6 incinerating plants producing electricity.

At the same time, electricity was guaranteed to be purchased by the state within 15 years at the unreasonably high rate and provide a private company a multi-billion profit.

As a result of timely adopted measures, the indicated illegal activity is stopped, the money is arrested," the Agency informed.

Vice-Minister of Ecology and the former leaders of the "Operator ROP" LLP are kept in custody.

The final decision of the guilt will be determined by the court.
